We call ourselves the West Coast School of Improvisation to honor the amazing West Coast improv innovators who blazed the trail before us. Let us pass the torch to you.

Through our mentors and lived experience, we learned what is required to perform improvised narratives at the highest possible level. We can’t wait to work with you in our focused weekend intensives.

I left feeling encouraged and pushed to my limits all at the same time. How they do it, I don’t know. I just know I need more of this.

Weekend Improv Intensives

w/ Jo McGinley & Stephen Kearin

Take a deep dive into narrative improvisation through the lens of Jo’s book, Going Long: The Art of Longform Improvisation for Stage & Screen

***This is for intermediate/seasoned improvisers – we will do an intensive for beginners soon

Over the course of the weekend, you will learn how to:

·      Develop your presence under pressure

·      Track narrative while adapting on the fly

·      Establish fully realized locations that help you find the story

·      Nail your improvised blocking

·      Layer genre onto your improvised scene work

·      Create characters we care about

This class will involve a lot of real-time side coaching in identifying and exploring these specific skill sets. We will take big swings together in this free-to-make-mistakes (that turn into gifts) environment.
